Hello from Davao!
I am finally here in the Philippines and it is wonderful! I am so happy to be here! Traveling was not too bad at all and over all I can't complain. Since being here I have seen and experienced a ton. About 100 names and faces are floating around in my head and more information than I know what to do with. Hopefully I'll get it all sorted out soon. Everyone has bent over backwards to accommodate me and is super nice. It's truly amazing! Davao and Faith Academy Mindanao are incredible places. With all these lovely things to tell you about, I am forced to condense it all into 10 short snippets of information, so here goes:
1) making American friends in Manila will truly brighten your day
2) before departure, get an address and phone number from whoever is supposed to pick you up at the airport at 6 am...just in case
3) always pack Dramamine
4) Filipinos are incredibly nice, kind, and helpful- especially at Davao airport
5) apparently tall, white, blond, Americans are considered goddesses
6) really scary looking fruits taste amazing
7) you can get a manicure and pedicure here for about $2 each
8) always carry toilet paper with you in public, and a toilet seat if you can fit it
9) three people on a motorcycle in the rain- totally normal
10) "air con" = air conditioning...if you're lucky enough to have it
Well, that's all for now! I'll tell you about my first week of school soon!
Hi Sweetie,
ReplyDeleteWe enjoyed your snippets! Wish we were there!
Love,
Dad & Mom
